This website has been created by SRI to assist Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) facility managers in their post-earthquake emergency decision-making for the safety of RJH patients and staff. This website focuses on the post-event structural safety of RJH buildings by using PPR technology in the form of the RJH PPR Responder website.

Refer to Brochure H31 for some background information on the Vmax ground motion sensors manufactured and installed in RJH buildings by SRI. SRI maintains and replaces Vmax sensors, where necessary, as part of its Island Health contract.

Some additional graphical information on PPR technology is provided by the PPR Insights video (menu option). Note that this video has been prepared using RJH as the reference hospital. The PPR technical references in the video are applicable to all Island Health hospitals, including RJH.

Seismic Resilience Innovation Corporation (SRI) is a specialist company located in Sidney, British Columbia. SRI’s exclusive business is the development and installation of PPR Networks.

The Live Analysis menu option gives an immediate graphical illustration of the PPR status of all RJH buildings. This illustration is referred to as a PPR Footprint. The PPR colour legend is given at the bottom right of the Live Analysis Page. In the event of a strong earthquake, the PPR Footprint will be a combination of yellow and red PPR colour codes.

On the Scenario Analysis Page, you can explore the seismic performance of the RJH buildings by choosing a peak ground motion through the use of the slider (bottom of Page). A peak ground motion of 30 cm/sec is considered a moderate level of shaking for RJH buildings.

The PPR rating of each RJH building is shown vertically. The peak ground motion measured by the building sensor is shown as the central vertical black bar within each PPR rating.

This menu option gives the peak ground motion for each RJH building as measured by the RJH Vmax sensors.

This page details the PPR thresholds for each RJH building. The right column gives the PPR colour code for each building.
